EV Overlanding with EarthCruiser

The off-road brand we know and love is expanding into overlanding.

Incredible news, overlanders and EV enthusiasts: EarthCruiser is starting a new venture into EV overlanding. We’ve seen the success of their 4×4 adventure vehicles, so we’re excited to see how their plans for overland vehicles, including pre-orders for slide-in campers for EV trucks, unfold.

We’ve long known EarthCruiser for their survival vehicles and top quality truck builds. As the shift towards EVs as overlanding vehicles grows, we’ve been seeing tons of awesome companies keeping pace. The future of overlanding just keeps looking brighter. Greater efficiency, stronger off-grid capabilities, and more adaptable off-road power all seem right within reach.

More information is yet to come as the year goes on, but as of now, here’s what we know. EarthCruiser will be rolling out an EV Camper Pre-Order Program this year. On their site, you’ll pre-register to reserve one of their lightweight slide-in campers deigned for EV trucks.

“We have been keenly following the evolution of EV vehicles and have been waiting until the time is right and the time is now. We are a company that loves to discover, innovate, and test, over and over until we get it right. Our deep expertise in building world-renowned expedition vehicles makes it easier for us to roll into electric platforms compared to competitors,” said Lance Gillies, founder of EarthCruiser.

Next Steps in EV Overlanding

If you’re intrigued but not quite on the EV wave yet, no worries. EarthCruiser assures us that, while EV overlanding is the dream, these slide-in campers will work with your regular vehicles, too. Then, when you’re ready, all you’ll need is a software update to make the camper compatible with an EV.

“There are many similarities with our current EarthCruiser habitat and one that would be required to function with an electric platform. It’s critical to maximize efficiency in order to allow vehicles to go further. Managing limited storable on-board energy capacity, operating within acceptable range envelope and staying safe and comfortable is the essence of an overlanding vehicle and we have been doing that for years. EarthCruiser is extremely good at energy efficiency and the amount of energy required to move an EC down a road is significantly less than our competitors,” added Gillies.
