Egoé Nestbox Supertramp: 3-in-1 Stove

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp offers an innovative, portable multi-use stove system

In Tread May/June 2023, we highlighted a Czech-based company that recently started selling their modern, premium-made wares in North America. This included the new Egoé Nestbox Supertramp interior camping setup.

Many of you may not have heard of Egoé before. We hadn’t either until we spoke to them at one of the overlanding shows a while back. Fast forward to today and we’ve had their most off-road capable interior camp setup installed in our 1994 Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear van for four months. We’ve cold-weather camped with it, off-roaded with it, and road-tripped across the country with it. We must say, we’re impressed with the overall setup—especially its innovatively designed three-in-one stove system.

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp burners are very powerful and boil water in half the time of other camp stoves.

Quick Camp Setup Details

Our Nestbox camping system incorporates a sink/washing basin area with a four-gallon water container, two sliding drawers, various storage nooks, and a portable two-burner stove unit. An optional 12-volt Engel MD17F fridge/freezer rests in the right-side of the Nestbox system.

The folding bed platform, mattress, and side bolsters sit atop of the camp box when stowed for driving duties. Typically, the bed folds out on top of folded rear seats before use. Or, in our case, the setup simply assembles on its own supports as we removed our seats for extra cargo space.

The fuel lines include a small twist dial to control the flame. An adapter can be purchased in order to run Coleman-style propane tanks.

High-quality materials are used to craft every Egoé Nestbox, including our Supertramp Complete set. In addition to high-quality birch plywood, Egoé uses high-pressure laminate, stainless steel, heavy-duty nylon, dense foam, and premium fabric to construct the Supertramp setup. Stainless steel windscreens are also supplied to shield the double-burner stove when in use.

One Stove, Three Uses

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp has a portable high-powered double-burner stove system. It fits neatly into a perfectly shaped box. Its burners are evenly spaced and easily holds oversized pots, and the nifty rectangular stove compartment holds two concealed storage zones below. One is for fuel (which holds two small fuel canisters), and the other is for the supplied windscreens and other small accoutrements you’d like to stow. We chose to use this area for spices, small utensils, and other cooking essentials. Note: This stove system doesn’t self-ignite, so you’ll have to pack a lighter with a long neck to fire it up. It’ll fit in this compartment. Flip up the small counter area and you’ll have access to the area below.

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp is a modern, simple, and high-quality interior camping setup.

The three-in-one stove stows in its travel-intended home within the Nestbox camp setup. When ready to cook, it can be used 1 of 3 ways: it can be used when slid out from the Nestbox, or the cooker module and its burners can be lifted out and used on a table, or each individual burner can be removed from cooker module for backpacking.  The cooker module is easily removed from the Nestbox via a centralized top-mounted grab handle for table-top use. Each individual burner can be taken out of the portable box for hike-enabled opportunities—just be sure to bring your fuel and lighter along with you.

The maiden Egoé meal was a success. Having the opportunity to use the stove three different ways has freed up storage space and opened up creativity.

Using the Stove

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp stove is a cinch to operate. If you’re using the burners in the cooker module, first, hook up each fuel canister with the supplied fuel lines. Crank them up via the twist dial on the top of each fuel nozzle. Light each flame using your lighter. Adjust the flame to desired height using the same twist dial. The burners are easy to adjust and regulate, too. Note: If you plan to bring a burner along with you on a hike or a mountain bike ride, make sure to bring matches or a lighter and fuel.

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp stove can be removed, but it has very tight tolerances.

Using the Egoé Nestbox Supertramp stove is easy and intuitive. The burners heat up super fast and their temperature is easy to regulate. The system is powerful and boils water quickly. Take care when cooking delicate foods, though, to make sure they won’t unexpectedly burn. Our initial test meal of quinoa, brussel sprouts, and chicken apple sausages was a resounding and tasty success. We were able to boil, brown, cook, and simmer at a moment’s notice and in a controlled fashion.

It takes mere seconds to remove each burner, giving you the ultimate portable cooking experience.

Stovetop Summation

Not only were we able to achieve solid sleeps while camping with our Egoé Nestbox Supertramp interior camping setup, but we’ve also learned how to cook like a chef with ours, too.

The three-in-one portable stove unit allows us the ultimate cooking flexibility while using the minimal amount of cooking equipment. It makes us reevaluate our other tabletop stoves and portable burners, wondering if we need them any longer.

A simple twist of the pull tab and each Egoé burner pops out, ready for single-cooking use.

The Egoé Nestbox Supertramp three-in-one stove allows us to cook within the camp setup. We can also cook with the mobile box on the tabletop at a campsite or at the beach. Take it one step further, and the burners can even come with us on hiking trips. What’s not to love?!

Live leaner and smarter. The Egoé stove unit is modern and minimal—and we’re believers in its design and usability.
