How to Upgrade Your 2024 Tacoma with the Pro Series II Rear Bumper

2024 Tacoma Bumpers Get a Boost

We are always looking for ways to level up our trucks, and one of the fastest ways to add protection is to beef up the bumper. Body Armor 4×4 makes that super easy with the Pro Series II Rear Bumper. The engineering and design of this bumper made the installation process a dream. Follow along as we upgrade Project Tread!

Whenever I am working on bumpers on a new truck I always unhook the battery just to be safe. You don’t want the airbags to go off by accident.

Pull the top cover plates on the bumper and remove the bolts across the top of the bumper.
Remove the side supports on each side of the frame.
Unhook the bumper harness from the main wiring harness.
Now you are ready to remove the old front bumper.
Remove the wiring harness from the factory rear bumper. Be careful with the side sensors when moving the harness, and keep the same orientation as it came out of the old bumper.
Install the ABS plastic cover to the inside of the bumper so your sensors still work properly and will be protected.
Install a bumper harness on the new bumper. Make sure to align the sensors in the proper location.
If you are not adding extra lighting to the rear bumper, install the provided block-off plate on the bumper.
With everything above finished, you are ready to install the new rear bumper. Each side of the frame has three bolt holes. Slip the provided sleeves into the holes. Set the bumper on the factory receiver, and slide into place. BA4x4 proved spacers to slide between the new bumper and frame once they are there install the bolts and tighten them up.
As you tighten the bolts, make sure the gapping on the rear bumper is what you are looking for. If you are now running the swing arms, you can add the bumper caps and the project is finished at this point.
Install the swing arm mounts on the bumper.
Pack the lower bearing with grease and install it in the swing arm, and then tap the seal in place. Repeat the process for the top bearing; this one does not have the rubber seal.
Set the swing arm on the mount.
Tighten the castle nut and install the key and retainer bolt in the top of the swing arm.
Attach latch mounting point and bump stops on the swing arm.
Mount the latch point to the rear bumper.
Install the latch on the swing arm and test to see if it needs adjustments.
Install the swing arm cap and stop mount.
Now that the one side is complete repeat the process on the other side and you will be done with the install.
